1. Research online for venues and locations that are suitable for your event.
2. Call for pricing.
3. Narrow down your list to 3-5 halls.
4. Go visit each hall.
5. Pay particular attention to staff and manager.  Unhappy people or an unhappy manager usually means that they do not take pride in putting on events.  Steer clear of this type of banquet hall.  Unfortunately, there are quite a few of these halls in Houston TX.

Choosing the right-sized Houston reception hall is an important detail when selecting a venue for your special event.  Halls that are too big can seem cavernous and isolating.  This is not a good way to create intimacy and a festive atmosphere amongst your guests.  Conversely, choosing a reception hall that is too small can be a disaster too.  This creates a feeling of claustrophobia.  I view the selection of a party hall as something similar to Goldilocks and her porridge.  You have to find the one that is just right before pulling the trigger!

This banquet hall is from a downtown Houston hotel.  Many of the downtown hotels have been refurbished and are now competitive with many of the suburban reception halls in Houston.  If you are having a big wedding that a large amount of out-of-town guests are coming to, it may be a good idea to try and have a central location somewhere downtown so everyone has something to do (tourist stuff outside of wedding events).  Downtown, midtown, and the memorial park area all offer this.  And there are over a dozen quality hotels to choose from.  They all have excellent service and spacious banquet halls.  Details to come...
